In Australia we Nationally have a week dedicated to books and this is usually celebrated at Schools by having a Costume Parade where all of the children dress up as a character from their favorite book.
In 2018 my son chose Knut from “The Last Viking” written by Norman Jorgensen and illustrations by James Foley.
Initial designs were made from cardboard for the vest then transferred to foam for detailing and texturing. An old metal belt buckle has been used to give it an authentic look whilst Velcro on the right shoulder and hip hold the vest shut.
As for the weapons and helmet this were also made from foam and individual build posts are available for each of them. Even after years of play the costume is still standing the test of time and rigors of young children.
The Author and Illustrator were wrapped with the costume and level of detail.
